Electoral Area OCP Housing Updates

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) is updating housing-related policies in Official Community Plans (OCPs) and one Rural Land Use (RLU) Bylaw in its five electoral areas.

These targeted updates will:

• Update local policies to respond to Provincial housing legislation requirements, including Bill 44
• Align OCP policies with zoning bylaw amendments adopted in June 2024
• Proactively plan to meet local housing needs over the next 5 and 20 years as outlined in the Interim Housing Needs Report
• Support consideration of a broader range of housing options in local communities based on local context

Process Timeline

Upcoming Public Information Sessions

This summer, community members will have opportunities to learn more about the housing-related updates, ask questions, or share comments.

Please note that Electoral Area A updates will be a separate process under a larger Electoral Area A OCP Review this fall 2026. Big White (in Electoral Area E) is also being reviewed through a separate OCP process.
