The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary has now completed a full service review of the Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue (KBRFR) Service. The goal of the review was to make sure we have the right training, equipment, processes and people to meet the current and future needs of the eight urban and rural communities we serve.

Two key outcomes of the review are:

  1. We will maintain the the existing level of full service training, fire suppression, rescue, and first-responder medical and prevention services.
  2. We will maintain the existing six fire stations that provide overlapping coverage for the 20,000 residents of Rossland, Warfield, Area 'B'/Lower Columbia-Old Glory, Genelle, Trail, Montrose, Fruitvale and Area 'A'.

On November 19, 2019, our project team presented public engagement results to the RDKB East End Services Committee, who oversees our fire rescue service. The committee accepted our report and our review process is now completed. You can view or download our staff report at jointheconversation.rdkb.com.

We appreciate that you took time to learn about the Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue Service Review.
